I'm going to watch District 9 this weekend.
How excited should I be?
I like it slightly less now that i'm getting more into movies than I did before, but I stand by that it's a wonderful sci-fi with a really great artistic direction. Would probably give it a 7.5-8/10, best watched without having seen any of Neill Blomkamp's other movies because they're not very good and ruin the uniqueness of the South Africa setting.
Oh yeah, I heard Chappie sucked.
Die Antwoord sucks, what the fuck was he thinking.
I dunno, the guy's movies are always aesthetically really great but plot-wise he fucked up hard with Chappie and Elysium. Another reason I love District 9 is because it's part body horror and Sharlto Copley acts his ass off as the protagonist, whereas in Elysium he's badguy #63 to opposing leading man MATT DAMON, and in Chappie he's just voicing a robot, AKA literally the least expressive role that could exist.
I don't really care if Neill's Alien movie is good or not because it's not like bad Alien movies are anything new, but i'm intrigued to see how it'll be under his direction with an esteemed filmmaker producing it again. Peter Jackson produced District 9, a couple of smaller-name producers helped Blomkamp produce Elysium and Chappie, and now Ridley Scott is producing Alien 5 (I've heard).
They're airing Pulp Fiction tonight too. Inception is being shown tomorrow.
Really excited about watching District 9 and Pulp Fiction, not sure about Inception.
Pulp Fiction's a masterpiece obviously, Inception is fine and has some good moments but is also very overrated and felt very pretentious to me. There was just a big blockbuster that went into moderately abstract and slightly clumsy ideas so everyone shit themselves over how deep it was. It's Christopher Nolan's usual 2deep4u grey and blue color scheme Hans Zimmer soundtrack-having song and dance.
<3 cillian murphy though
I've been really trying to get more into movies because just sitting behind a computer all summer is no fun at all.
I watched A Knight's Tale, Hitch and Diary of a Wimpy Kid this week.
Needless to say the last one sucked and I don't even know why I bothered.
A Knight's Tale is good, I haven't seen Hitch in its entirety yet but it was before Will Smith got really depressed and weird, and I read Diary of a Wimpy Kid in middle school and was thus obligated to watch the movie, which I didn't think was very good. Are you just watching what comes on TV or do you have Netflix or whatever the fuck?
I just watch whatever's on if it seems interesting to me.
They air some god fucking awful movies here man.
Yeah you're gonna want to get netflix (it's available in belgium I guess) or at least start looking for movies you're interested in on free streaming sites if you want to see things that aren't shit at least relatively often
I liked your "If you read this the aliens have already taken me"better.
I'm far too lazy/poor to get Netflix.
Inception ended up being really boring. I'm watching Sherlock Holmes and Life of Pi later this week.
I really liked Pulp Fiction, I loved District 9 too but it felt a little too chaotic for me. The ending wasn't satisfying at all. It's like eating dinner at a restaurant and not getting a desert. I can live without, but it'd be nice if I got one.
You're gonna have to expound there; is that a thing I said or what's going on there? I'm not sure what you're referring to.
Yeah nah Inception's pretty eh, Pulp Fiction's obviously a masterpiece, I remember District 9's ending feeling a bit anti-climatic and was expecting a sequel for a while, but I don't think one is coming and think it's probably better that way. I dunno; it's been at least a year since I saw it so the ending might have been a lot more ham-fisted than I recall.
I thought Life of Pi was pretty alright and the 2009 Sherlock Holmes was my favorite movie for a bit right after it came out before I really watched movies at all. In retrospect it's not amazing and it's not a very good adaption of Sherlock Holmes, but I still like it a lot. The sequel's alright but markedly inferior. Overall they're both pretty decent and very different from one another, so that's a good line-up.
I was talking about your profile text (or whatever you call it). I should have clarified.
Oh man, I have no idea when I changed it but I guess it's been long enough that I don't remember doing so
Watched Life of Pi and that pretty much concludes my movie summer. Hopefully I'll find some interesting movies during school and other vacations too.
Didn't see that much movies because I started checking the television too late.
I also watched Tintin.
I thought Life of Pi and Tintin were both pretty alright. Wouldn't call either of them particularly good movies, but they're both graphically amazing and I thought they were compelling.
do you like death grips
man i last commented here a year ago
i'm fucking ancient
can't really get into death grips, not my kind of sound
I like their energy on certain tracks though
>turning 18 in september
I would have rather been a virgin until I was 18 than have lost my virginity to some girl who mean nothing to me tbh
it must be difficult in belgium where there's a total of like 4 people though
it's definitely difficult when you're socially awkward and got kicked out of your previous school in the middle of the trimester and have no friends
true story btw
I recently tried antidepressants chiefly hoping to treat social anxiety, which didn't make me feel any different, so I got off of them and got WAY sadder for a period of time, so with regards to anxiety I implore you to just keep trying to reach out to people via common interest or humor, and sometimes you will fuck up and want to kill yourself, but other times it can work out well. You only really need it to work well once and then that friend can introduce you to their friends.
side notes: a lot of girls are really funny and there's no reason to be nervous talking to them, and nihilism is hip at the moment
yeah, and I do look criminally good
got that goin on
never forgot you jester ;_;7
xoxo i am with you in spirit, child
ain't even bad
